Workshop on Empirical Evaluations of Adaptive Systems

Submission Instructions

Due to the workshop format there are several submission requirements. Participants are required to bring along a description of a finished or planned empirical evaluation.

 Description of finished Evaluations
Descriptions of empirical evaluations that have been completed should contain
  • a short description of the evaluated system or inference mechanism
  • the experimental design
  • a list of evaluation criteria
  • a detailed description of the statistical methods (statistical test procedure; sample size; alpha; power; effect size). For evaluations with statistical tests this is strictly required.
  • lessons learned from the evaluation

 Description of planned Evaluations
Descriptions of planned empirical evaluations should contain
  • a short description of the evaluated system or inference mechanism
  • the question that should be answered by the evaluation
  • planned experimental design
  • a list of evaluation criteria

 Format
Workshop papers will be published in full length in the workshop proceedings and presented in talks at the workshop. Depending on the number of participants each talk will be about 10 minutes. Afterwards there will be a discussion of about 15 minutes.

Paper submissions have no minimum length requirements, so long as all of the above points are covered. For maximum length, camera ready papers must fit within 10 single-spaced pages printed with a 10-point font. These 10 pages must include all elements of the submission. Page 1 must include the title of the paper, a short abstract (150 words), a list of keywords, and the authors' postal and e-mail addresses and fax and phone numbers (Page 1 can also include the beginning of the main text of the manuscript). Camera ready copies must be in Portable Document Format (*.pdf) or Postscript (*.ps).

Please, follow closely the Springer Verlag requirements or use the provided templates ( LaTex2e | LaTex | Tex | MS Word (PC) | MS Word (Mac)). The Latex2e template package contains llncs.dem (a sample input file) and llncs.doc (a TEX file containing detailed instructions showing how the macro package works). If you have any problems with the latex templates, take a look at these files first. More extensive information about formatting your submission can be found on Springer's Information for Authors page.

 Submission
